Switching from Tekmetric to MyGaragio
Tekmetric is a cloud-based shop management system used by repair shops in the United States and Canada. Here’s how to bring your customers, vehicles and history into MyGaragio.
What comes over
- Customers with phones, emails, addresses and notes — matched to anyone already in MyGaragio by phone, email or name.
- Vehicles with VIN, plate, year, make, model and mileage, linked to their owners.
- Service history: past visits become paid repair orders, with their jobs matched to your service menu — so reminders, wear forecasts and customer history work from day one.
- Parts inventory with quantities, costs and prices.
- Your repair order numbering carries on where the old system stopped.
What stays behind
- Photos, inspection pictures and attachments
- Text and email history
- User accounts and passwords — you invite your team in a minute
- Stored card numbers (never imported)
- Settings such as labor rates, the parts matrix and taxes — set on the Welcome screen in a few minutes, with sensible defaults
Exporting your data from Tekmetric
Follow these steps, then drop the files into MyGaragio’s import screen.
- Export your customers from the customer list (Download CSV), or the Customer List Report.
- Export your repair order history with the Hacker Tracker report, showing posted repair orders only — one row per repair order.
- If you want payments too, export the Payment Details report.
- Export your parts from Inventory ▸ Bulk Edit ▸ Download (Excel).
- In MyGaragio, open Settings ▸ Import & export (or the Welcome screen of a new shop) and drop every file at once. Check what MyGaragio found in each file and the columns it matched, then import.
Good to know
- Tekmetric’s customer list report only includes customers who have a repair order in Tekmetric; customers that were migrated into it may need the customer list download instead.

Frequently asked questions
How long does it take to move from Tekmetric?
Plan an hour or two to export the files and check the import. The import itself takes minutes, even with years of history.
Can I try it before switching for good?
Yes. Import a recent export during the free trial; on switch day, import a fresh export — the same customers and visits aren’t added twice.
What if a column isn’t recognized?
You choose the match yourself before importing, and an import can be undone. For anything unusual, write to us at support@mygaragio.com.
